3 Things I've Learnt So Far in My Filmmaking Journey

Cinema is a kind of madness requiring immense creative power. I reflect on my 14-year journey from aeronautical engineering student to full-time filmmaker with a friend, learning through online resources and mentors while working across advertisements, documentaries, and short films. ## Lesson 1: Films as Your First Film School Watch as many films as you can, not as a leisure activity. Rather than passive viewing, aspiring filmmakers should analytically study directorial choices, cinematography, and editing techniques across multiple viewings. By understanding filmmakers' creative decisions, you develop foundational skills applicable to your own work. ## Lesson 2: Work with What You Have Beginners shouldn't wait for ideal resources. Reach out to like minded people in your circle or find crews through social meetups. Lack of access to any top notch equipment or resources shouldn't discourage you from making your film! Focus on storytelling quality rather than production budget. ## Lesson 3: Embrace Humility and Collaborative Spirit Filmmaking is a collaborative process. Team members often wear multiple roles; ego should yield to collective success. Every crew member, regardless of title, contributes essentially to the film's achievement.
